Smart Strip Recommendations

For DIY LED strips that aren’t addressable, I recommend 12V RGBW strips. They make power injection easier. Also, consider looking at addressable light strips. You can always use the controller to make the strip all one color.

You will need some type of controller to control your lights. I’ve personally used the Shelly RGBW2 controller, which is an earlier version of the Shelly Plus RGBW PM. Here are the ones that I recommend:

You’ll also need a power supply for lights and for your controller. Make sure you get a power supply that has enough power for the number of lights you’re using. Here are a variety of power supplies that should suit your needs.

Additional Supplies For Your LED Strips

LED strips, controllers, and power supplies are the basics, but there are a few other things you might want or need. For example, you might need a case for a controller. You might also need some wires to run the power injections. Also, wire strippers, barrel connectors, and a soldering kit always come in handy.
