I prioritize good in-home air quality and keeping my family safe. I built a couple of air quality monitors and an air purifier. Previously, I installed carbon monoxide sensors in my home, but I don’t have anything that tracks the levels of CO2. The SwitchBot Meter Pro CO2 intrigued me because I am familiar with and happy with many other SwitchBot devices. Is this smart sensor a good device for you? Read on to find out.

SwitchBot Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor) specs
- 5-in-1 Multi-Functional Display Screen: SwitchBot Meter Pro CO2 features a 92-millimeter large screen that simultaneously displays CO2 levels, temperature & humidity, time, date, and comfort level. This indoor air quality monitor makes it easy to monitor your environment and decide when to ventilate for a healthier living space.
- High Precision Sensor: Built with Swiss-made NDIR sensors, this CO2 monitor accurately monitors air quality by measuring CO2 levels every 1 second with an accuracy of ±50 ppm and a range of 400-9000 ppm. Its high sensitivity and stability ensure rapid and precise air quality feedback.
| Dimensions: | 92 x 79 x 25 mm(3.6 in. × 3.1 in. × 0.98 in.) |
| Weight: | 154 grams (with batteries) |
| Power: | 2 AA batteries or 5V 1A USB-C |
| Connectivity: | Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) |

A few things to note about the specs:
- The third-party services require either SwitchBot’s mini-hub or their Hub 2.
- SwitchBot says the batteries will last about a year. The sensor has a USB-A to USB-C cable, but not a power adapter.
- By default, if you use batteries, the CO2 reading updates every 30 minutes. If you use the USB-C cable, it updates every minute. The update frequency can be changed in the SwitchBot app and manually triggered by the button on the top of the device.
- Although the device can store data for 68 days, data can be stored for much longer using the app.
- The device has a stand in the back so it can sit up on its own.
It’s also worth noting that SwitchBot has a Meter Pro product and a Meter Pro CO2 product. If you are interested in CO2 monitoring make sure you get the right one!

Setting up the SwitchBot Meter Pro CO2
The setup of the SwitchBot Meter Pro is a snap. First, get the app and create an account if you haven’t already. Then remove the plastic battery protector to activate the device and then open up the SwitchBot App and click on the plus sign on the upper right to add a device. You should get a screen like below when it is detected:

You select the Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor) and follow the instructions. You’ll likely have to apply a firmware update, as I did. Then you are ready to configure the SwitchBot Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor) to your liking. If you have one of SwitchBot’s hubs it will walk you through pairing the device with the hub, which you will want to do to utilize some of the third-party integrations (e.g., Google Assistant, Matter, Alexa).
Using the SwitchBot Meter Pro
There’s not much to “use” with the SwitchBot Meter Pro. The display is easy to read and well laid out. It tells you time, date, temperature, and humidity levels. It also gives you a comfort indicator which is meant to indicate how comfortable the room is to be in, based on the humidity and temperature.

The SwitchBot Meter Pro also displays CO2 levels in the room, along with an easily digestible meter that tells you how safe the CO2 levels are. As mentioned earlier, at any time you can get updated CO2 levels by pressing the button on the top of the device.
How often the CO2 levels update on their own is one of the many options you can configure using the SwitchBot App. You can also configure the units, the time settings (like the time zone you are in), the language, and notifications. Notifications can be used to alert you when the temperature, humidity, or CO2 reaches levels you want to know about.

In addition to configuring the SwitchBot smart sensor, the app shows the current sensor readings and historical trends.

Integration with Home Assistant
There are at least three ways to integrate this device with Home Assistant:
- You can integrate this device using Matter. As of the writing of this article, CO2 values are not passed through to Home Assistant
- Home Assistant has a SwitchBot cloud integration that you can use which also, as of the writing of this article, does not support CO2 values.
- Home Assistant can also integrate with SwitchBot devices through Bluetooth, which is how I’ve integrated my other SwitchBot devices. As of the writing of this article, it sees this device as a light strip!
This is a new device so all the integrations probably aren’t ready yet. I’d bet this will be working fine via Bluetooth and the cloud integration within a couple of Home Assistant monthly releases.
Alternatives to the SwitchBot Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor)
SwitchBot has a few other smart sensors that have similar functionality. They have the aforementioned SwitchBot Meter Pro, which doesn’t have CO2 monitoring. The SwitchBot Hub 2, the Thermo-Hygrometer, and the SwitchBot Thermometer can all do temp and humidity, but not CO2.
If you specifically need a CO2 sensor You can take a look at the following:
Note the first two products are not smart devices and they don’t show time. The third device has additional air quality sensors but is part of a small ecosystem, has a shorter battery life, and doesn’t show the date. The fourth item seems to have very similar features but has a smaller ecosystem and doesn’t appear to show the date. However, it does have a rechargeable battery. The last two options are significantly more expensive than the SwitchBot Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor).
Final thoughts
The SwitchBot Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor) is another quality offering from SwitchBot at an affordable price. If you’re in the market for an inexpensive smart CO2 monitor that also tracks temperature, humidity, and has a strong ecosystem then this device has few competitors. I recommend it.
